Without backups, an important project can be rendered useless, in the event of hardware failure or a critical system error. It is enough to copy your files in a different location, to make sure that you will still have something to work with. AutoVer can be used to back up your files automatically, to a different folder on your hard drive, a removable memory device or a FTP server. While using this simple application, human error will not be a factor. It will not forget to back up your files or copy the wrong items.

AutoVer is free and it works on various 32 or 64-bit Windows platforms, from Win 2000 to Win 7. Its setup file is small, so you will not spend too much time downloading and installing the application. The wizard will not install any toolbars on your web browser and it will not ask you to reboot your computer.

Like other similar software, AutoVer lets you create backup tasks and run them manually or schedule them. Tasks are created and configured on a small, tabbed window. Besides the source folder, you may specify a different location on your hard drive or a FTP server.

You may access the remaining time to configure your FTP server, include or exclude certain file types, specify a maximum file size, set the application to run the backup tasks daily or hourly and more. AutoVer includes a series of versioning options as well. You can set the application to erase or archive files that are older than a certain number of days, copy files only if their content is changed and more.

The software will monitor your folders at all times. If you copy a new file or modify an existing one, in the source folder, AutoVer will perform the same action automatically, in the backup folder. If the original files are lost, you may click the Restore option, on the software's toolbar, to copy all files, from the backup folder to the original one. Alternatively, you can set the program to restore your files at a certain time and date. A synchronization option is available as well, so you can make sure that your backup tasks are up to date.

Pros

AutoVer makes it very easy to configure and execute backup tasks. The interface is simple and its options are clear and straightforward. The software will update your backup folder automatically, when you add new files or modify existing ones, in the source folder.

Cons

You can synchronize files only in one direction. With AutoVer, it takes very little time and effort to ensure that your important files are backed up at all times.
